Consignment FAQ

How long is your consignment period?
Your contract is open for 12 months.  Items can be consigned for at least 60 days up to 12 months.  Consignment periods will be decided and noted on the Consignment Information Form at the time you open a consignment account.

What is the percentage paid on an item sold through the Consignment Program?
The consignor receives 50% off of the selling price and the shop receives 50%.

How do you price your consigned items?
We will determine the asking price together based on the designer, date of purchase and purchase price.  Generally, gently used consigned items are priced at 40% off of the original purchase price and new consigned items are priced at 20% off of the original purchase price.  When the shop offers 10% off sale on an entire line, and your item falls within that sale, your items will be sold at a 10% discount off of the original decided purchase price without approval from the consignor.

What types of items do you take on consignment?
We accept wedding gowns newly purchased within the past 6 years and prom gowns, flower girl and Mother’s gowns within the past 3 years.  We also accept new or gently used accessories such as veils, head pieces, slips, jewelry and clutches.  We only take new shoes and undergarments.  We do not accept bridesmaid dresses.

How do I become a consignor?
Call 724-238-6700 for an appointment if wanting to consign during Prom season.  Otherwise, you can consign during regular weekday business hours.  We do not take consignments on Saturdays.   If we are busy with customers, we will help you with the consignment process as soon as we finish assisting them.  Please allow up to an hour to get your items consigned.  At the time of consigning, a Consignment Contract and a Consignment Information Form will be completed. Read the entire Consignment Contract for additional consigning policies and guidelines.  We do not keep packaging of consigned items such as garment bags.  If you wish to keep them, you must take them at the time of consignment.  There is a $15 one-time consignment fee per consignment agreement.  In order for items to be accepted, they need to be cleaned, pressed and free of stains, snags, tears, defects etc.

*** Please take note that we do contact you when your items sell but we DO NOT contact you when your items are to be picked up.  If you do not pick up your consigned items by the pick-up dates or the end of your contract, your items become property of Modern Elegance without notification.***
